Gun Safety 101 is an introductory course designed to teach safe and responsible firearm handling for individuals who are new to shooting or who want to refresh their foundational knowledge. This course focuses on the core principles of firearm safety, range etiquette, and responsible firearm ownership to help ensure a safe environment for all participants.

Students will learn the four fundamental rules of firearm safety, how to safely handle and store firearms, and proper conduct while on a shooting range. The course will also introduce basic shooting fundamentals including stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger control.

As part of the course, participants will receive a legal briefing from the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office covering Indiana firearm laws, responsible ownership, and important legal considerations related to the use and possession of firearms. This briefing helps ensure participants understand both the safety and legal responsibilities that come with firearm ownership.
